JPMorgan Chase (JPM) CEO Jaime Dimon says markets underestimate the impact of President Donald Trump's tariffs on interest rates and inflation, which he describes as a "cause for concern." We'll get updated data on the latter this week.

Tuesday, July 16: Consumer Price Index (CPI): Investors, traders and speculators will look closely for evidence that tariffs are impacting prices.

Inflation has trended lower, but market interest rates reflect uncertainty about how new trade policy will translate at the most basic level of exchange.

Will tariffs create inflation?

It's all about inflation and whether President Donald Trump's tariffs will make it accelerate.

Investors, traders and speculators will look for clues when the Bureau of Labor Statistics releases the June Consumer Price Index (CPI) Tuesday morning at 8:30 am Eastern Standard Time.

A FactSet-compiled consensus expects headline CPI to increase 0.3% month over month and 3.1% year over year.

Core CPI – which excludes the volatile moves of food and energy prices – is expected to print at 0.3% month over month but 3.3% year over year.
